A recent AP article talked about how the young people who were so rabid about Obama last Fall have quietly gone back to the political sidelines. I'm not surprised. As a young person myself (27 next month) I whole heartedly agree that my age group is ignorant. It's the instant gratification, pseudo knowledge, no substance and immature generation. Most of them will need another 7-10 years of life under their belt before they are relevant in any political capacity. First, I'm a proponent of raising the voting age. 18 year olds, for the most part, are seniors in high school or freshman in college. They are concerned with issues like legalizing pot and other crap like that. Some, like to link themselves to some distant bleeding heart ideal that they really know nothing about and whine about it like experts. Here it comes, "if 18 year olds can die for their country they should be able to vote", agreed, I served in the military myself and I agree. Those 18 year olds who are in the military should be able to vote for their next boss. Ok moving on.
So most young people voted for Obama but didn't know what they were voting for. They are too unrealistically idealistic. They don't understand the ambiguities that you need to navigate with common sense. Young people usually aren't wealthy (independently at least) and have a resentment for older, wealthier people who have earned their titles and wealth but dominate them in the work place etc. Young people of today also are a product of liberal, empty self-esteem inflating education and don't know how to deal with the harsh realities of competition and success/failure...the hallmark of a successful capitalist economy. Generation Y and X,to a certain extent, want to move up in their jobs without paying their dues and want to get rich quick. Dangerous for things like the housing market. People have always been materialistic in America but to say it's gotten worse and more ingrained in young people through the years is an understatement. What's funny is they are materialistic but yet embrace socialist ideas. Which goes to my next point...THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND ECONOMICS. PERIOD. Most of these kids have never lived away from home and don't pay their own cell phone bill, and we expect them to understand policies. Give me a break.
One final point is a quote from something I wrote a while back. "The young people of today don't understand that the 'system' or 'establishment' they should be fighting against, isn't the big bad companies that give them jobs (and subsequent innovation). It's the system that hides behind rainbow colors of immorality all the while falsely claiming 'social justice' to impose not equal opportunities but manufactured results, the system that behind these colors grows a big, intrusive and expensive bureaucracy that will rob them of true progression...and their retirement funds."

Looks like the next generation will be liberals too, thanks to the school system. Look at these lyrics a New Jersey school had the kids singing:
Song 1:
Mm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that all must lend a hand
To make this country strong again
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said we must be fair today
Equal work means equal pay
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that we must take a stand
To make sure everyone gets a chance
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said red, yellow, black or white
All are equal in his sight
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
Yes!
Mmm, mmm, mm
Barack Hussein Obama
Song 2:
Hello, Mr. President we honor you today!
For all your great accomplishments, we all doth say "hooray!"
Hooray, Mr. President! You're number one!
The first black American to lead this great nation!
Hooray, Mr. President we honor your great plans
To make this country's economy number one again!
Hooray Mr. President, we're really proud of you!
And we stand for all Americans under the great Red, White, and Blue!
So continue ---- Mr. President we know you'll do the trick
So here's a hearty hip-hooray ----
Hip, hip hooray!
Hip, hip hooray!
Hip, hip hooray!

Jeff -
I know, this is very scary. Indoctrination. What's funny is that Obama and his ilk ruined the economy by promoting the fraudulent sub prime lending giants and his trillion dollar a year spending to increase the Government will rob those kid of their retirement. Also, there song is predicated on the fact that every U.S. President before Obama must have been a racist!!!! We just passed civil rights laws since Obama has been in office.
