Apparently, murdering 4 men makes you a hero in modern day Oakland. Just days after killing 4 police officers following a routine traffic stop, Lovelle Mixon, is being honored by his community. I guess it shows the hatred the city of Oakland has for law enforcement but I think the larger issue is the hero treatment this drug dealer, murderer and possible child rapist is posthumously receiving. The facts are,he was a convicted drug dealer and a fugitive parolee, so the officers were not doing anything wrong in pulling him over. He was obviously in violation of his parole for not showing up to meet his parole officer and carrying a firearm. Still, the 1,000 + "civil rights" marchers in Oakland feel on some level he was justified.
What kind of message does this send to our youth? That impulsive murder is justified if there exists an indirect, perceived collective injustice. It's the Oakland community's "this was a long time coming" attitude that allows the idolization of a troubled, cold blooded murderer. Of course, the enablers will counter with lofty evidence that Mixon was in fact not a rapist or murderer but the logical facts remain. Now, don't misunderstand me, I am not debating their right to march in the street for something they believe in...I'm simply pointing out the absurdity of it. The Oakland PD should respond by not responding...to any 911 calls made from any of those marchers and those in their community.
Of course, our media will plaster the video of a Dallas officer's lapse in common sense and people will be outraged over it, but not at the fact that citizens in this country are so anti-establishment that they relish in the murder of four police officers. I understand if the citizens feel some level of police injustice but you can't advocate due process if you cheer the murder of men who were simply doing their jobs. If this story makes you sick, think about the family and friends of the slain officers. Unfortunately the "vigil march" was hardly reported in the mainstream news outlets.
I won't be going out of my way to visit Oakland anytime soon but then again, he lives there.

"What kind of message does this send to our youth? That impulsive murder is justified if there exists an indirect, perceived collective injustice" This is obviously what these kind of people don't get..
